CHS Student Council Needs Your Help

By  |

The Central High School Student Council is trying to make a positive impact in the community this school year, and is asking for the City of Central to help in their newest project. Below is a letter written to the City of Central from the Central High School Student Council.

Dear City of Central Residents:

My name is Ashton Kennedy and I am the President of the Student Council at Central High School. Recently shown on the local news was a 10 year old boy from Baton Rouge named Trevor Sims, who has terminal cancer. He lives in Central and his dying wish is one that may surprise you. Unlike many children his age, his dying wish is to feed the hungry and the homeless in the Baton Rouge area through September 7th, but my fellow Student Council leaders and I propose that we, the City of Central, take it one step further.

Growing up in Central, I have always loved the fact that we always lend a hand to help others in need, and I believe this is the perfect opportunity for us to do so. We truly are a family here in Central, something I would never trade for anything. As Student Council President, I truly believe that this is a great cause, not only to help “Trevor’s Wish”, but also to bring awareness to the ongoing hunger issue in our area.

Our proposal, which has been approved by our principle, Mr. David Prescott, is to attempt to get local businesses and residents to participate in this endeavor by making a donation. Every penny of money raised will be put into a check to give to the Baton Rouge Food Bank in Trevor’s name. If you would like to help, any donation would be greatly appreciated, no matter the amount. I really hope that you will team up with the Central High School Student Council in making “Trevor’s Wish” a reality by bringing awareness to the hunger problem in our area. Please make checks payable to “Central High School” and mail to the attention of “Trevor’s Wish.” We will be accepting donations until October 4th. Thank you for truly being “A Community That Cares”, and God Bless.

Sincerely,

Ashton Kennedy
