ARPA Spends Summer Cleaning the Amite River

The Amite River Preservation Association has once again spent their entire summer ensuring our Amite River remains a place of beauty. The crew of college and high school aged students collected an amazing 6000 gallons of garbage (that's one piece at a time, folks) and are still at it. They have worked so hard they've worn out the bottom of the boat they purchased only last summer! Overcoming issues like the boat and a launch that needs repair, along with the challenge of meeting people who just don't appreciate what they do, they persevere on their self-appointed task. Check out their new Facebook site and leave them a message of thanks!
