Happy 100th Birthday to Mrs. Allie Smylie

Mrs. Allie Smylie Welch of Central celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, August 10, at the Zoar Baptist church Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Welch was born on August 9, 1913, in Amite County, Mississippi. She married Bill Welch on January 21, 1933. Mr. Bill and Mrs. Allie had 7 children—Edward, Richard, Cramon, Roy, Allie Rae Rogers, Clara Dean Harrison, and Irma Jean Roule. Mrs. Allie now has 22 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Allie has always loved to garden and cook for family and friends. She also loved to sew and was known for her beautiful handmade quilts. She is still enjoying spending time with her children and grandchildren.
