Each year, Central Community Theatre selects an “Elite” team to travel to Atlanta, Georgia in January to compete at the Junior Theatre Festival. After each performance, “Golden Tickets” are handed out to a select few outstanding actors and actresses from each theatre. This year, Central Community Theatre had six outstanding students chosen. Upon receiving this ticket, these young actors and actresses are given the opportunity to audition to spend ten days during the summer in New York City, filming a choreography DVD with iTheatrics and Music Theatre International.
Only two of the six were chosen to come for a call-back on the final day of auditions. One of whom, Shelbi Lambert, is a ten year old 5th grader at CIS. The two finalists sang and danced their hearts out against about 80 other hopefuls from all over the United States. At the end of the audition, the kids were grouped together and photos were snapped of them with their audition numbers. They were told they would be notified (via e-mail) in March whether or not they made the final cut.
On March 5th, the email came. It read, “I am thrilled to be writing to ask you to be part of iTheatrics Broadway Junior Choreography DVD shoot!” Shelbi will be spending her summer in filming New York City. Congratulations to Shelbi Lambert and Central Community Theatre on having one of their students chosen for this opportunity. Break-a-leg!
