BR Metro Airport to Fly In Moore Dignitaries

By  |

In the aftermath of the tornado that devastated Moore, Oklahoma, “Cooking in Central” is returning to its origins and is again “Cookin’ for Our Neighbors”.  First honoring the commitments made to all local schools and the Veterans’ Memorial Garden, Cooking in Central will be sending half of the remaining proceeds to Moore, Oklahoma.  If the event is as successful as recent years, the storm relief check could easily top $50,000.
The Cooking event was born in 2006 when “Cookin’ for Our Neighbors” raised $200,000 to send to the Chalmette Schools after Hurricane Katrina.  In that same spirit everyone in the Baton Rouge area has a great opportunity next weekend to support Cooking in Central’s effort to help out in Oklahoma.  So, come out Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8, to the Cooking in Central property on Blackwater Road and help Cookin’ help Oklahoma.
Two dignitaries from Moore, Oklahoma are being flown in courtesy of the BR Metro Airport just to attend Cooking in Central.  They will be on hand through the entire event and will return home to Moore, OK having had a taste of the great cooking and even greater generosity of the City of Central.
Friday night kicks off with Central’s largest Crawfish Boil a 5 PM, tickets are $15.  Carbon Copy band plays at 7PM.  Saturday the event opens at 10 AM and features silent and live auctions, local entertainment, kids’ games and the great Cookoff.  Meal tickets are $10.  The event concludes with Burnhouse Band beginning at 3:00 Saturday.
