Letter to the Editor: Thank You to a Special Mom

Last year, Central Speaks put on “Central Speaks about Our Mothers,” wherein community members sent in letters about their moms. We did not hold the event again this year, but we did receive one letter. So in celebration of Mother’s Day, we are printing this letter, which we think embodies the way many of us feel about our mothers.
Dear Central,
My mom, Ramona DeBate is so special to me. She is my very best friend. She has always stood by me and continues to impress me every single day. She is not only a fabulous mother, but a wonderful grandmother and an excellent mother-in-law. She always puts her family first. She cleaned houses for 20 years so she could be home with my sister and I. She and my dad raised their three grand children and she now keeps my children on weekdays so they do not have to be in daycare. In 2001 her mother passed away from Cancer, in 2006 my mom found out she also had cancer. She fought, and with the help of GOD, she won the battle. She is now cancer free and healthy. She has been through so much in her life yet she still holds her head up and stays strong for her family. I have the most amazing mother! I could not have asked for more.
