The week didn’t quite start the way the Wildcats wanted it to, losing a 9-6 contest at home against Walker last Thursday. After going down 8-1 through four innings, Central made a valiant effort to try to get back in the game scoring five runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Unfortunately, it would not be enough to overtake the Walker Wildcats. This put the Central Wildcats in a tough situation: they would most likely have to win the remainder of their games to make the playoffs. So far, they have done just that. Saturday, the Wildcats traveled to Denham Springs to take on the #12 Yellow Jackets. The Wildcats exploded with 19 hits including 3 each for Mason Gautreaux, Brett Courville, Thomas Eddlemon, and Travis Stevens. Chris Chambliss and Antonio Ragusa each added 4 RBI’s to the totals in a 16-6 victory. On Tuesday, Central took care of business at Scotlandville to set up a key game Thursday at home against Live Oak. James Schopp and Logan Brewer each had two RBI’s in a 7-2 victory. Brett Courville got the start and the victory going four innings, giving up three hits and no runs.
The Wildcats play their last regular season game at home against the Live Oak Eagles today at 4 pm. Central currently sits at #34 in the unofficial power rankings while the Eagles sit at #31. With a win and a little help, the Wildcats could make and be a very dangerous team in the playoffs.
