Former CHS Assistant Football Coach Mike Gardner is reportedly filing suit against the Central Community School System over dismissal from his coaching position.  Gardner is a teacher at Central Middle School but asserts that his paid coaching position at the High School was taken away because he also is now an owner of a daiquiri shop in Central.  Superintendent Mike Faulk of the School System says that he has been informed that there is a lawsuit but that he has not yet received it at his office.
Gardner has claimed that the Principal of Central High School, Bob Wales, met with him and explained that he was being removed from coaching because of his ownership in the Daiquiri Shop.  Superintendent Faulk explains, “Extracurricular positions are ‘at will’ appointments and are determined on a year to year basis by the principle at each school in order to determine the direction of the programs at that particular school.  Mr. Gardner still has his job as a classroom teacher.”
