Anthony Dupont, a 5th grader at Central Intermediate School, has been named as a Regional Finalist in the Louisiana Student of the Year awards program.  There are five other finalists on the 5th grade level.  The finalists and state winners will be honored on April 16th during a ceremony at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge.
Students are selected based on criteria that measure academic achievement, leadership skills, character, and service to their schools and communities.  “These finalists are great examples of what our students are capable of, and their success reaffirms the high expectations we are setting in schools across Louisiana,” said Chas Roemer, president of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.  “We commend these students on their academic and personal achievements.”
