After two tough weeks of baseball, the Wildcat baseball team finally returned to the Baton Rouge area to play in the Denham Springs Tournament. They opened up play Thursday against St. Charles Catholic. Wildcat starter Travis Stevens held the Comets scoreless for the first six innings but a run in the seventh was ultimately the killer for the Wildcats as they lost 1-0. The bats came to life Friday though as Central got the better of St. Michael’s for the second time this week. Hunter Edgens had a good night at the plate going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. Cameron Cason also collected two hits. Mason Gautreaux went the entire way on the mound, only giving up 2 earned runs. The Wildcats split a pair of games on Saturday, losing to West Ouachita 15-5 and then beating Woodlawn 13-0. Cason came up with 3 RBI’s in the win, and Thomas Eddlemon got 2.
The Wildcats improved their record to 5-8 on the year and take on Carencro, Comeaux, Lafayette, and St. Thomas More in the Atchafalaya Challenge this weekend.
