Central High Varsity Bowling (7-0) extended their winning streak Monday (3-4-13) to 7 matches by defeating Woodlawn (3-5) 24-3 and 2911-2434 Total Pins.  Woodlawn showed that they have some promising bowlers for the future, but Central showed they’re the team beat now and blew the doors off Woodlawn in Monday’s match-up.
In Games 1 and 2, Central cruised to a 6-2 and 7-1 wins.  After the first two games Central lead 13-3 and 1913-1651.  Game 1 was led by Haley Young (Sophomore) with a 180 and Jacob Garretson (Sophomore) with a 179.  Sean Murphy (Junior) was the high Wildcat in Game 2 with a 195 and followed by Garretson’s 183.  With the match all but wrapped up, Central would sweep the rest of the points for Game 3 and Total Pins.  In Game 3, Central rolled their highest game of the day to seal the victory, 998 to Woodlawn’s 783.  After winning the final 11 points, Central would win by a 24-3 margin.  Game 3 was once again led by Young with a 212 and Garretson’s 207.  Overall, Garretson would lead the Wildcats in series with a 569, followed by Young’s 541 (109 pins over average), Murphy’s 528 and Bryan Waites (Senior & Captain) with a 500.  A special congratulation goes to Young and her outstanding bowling.  Her 541 series and 212 game is her first LHSAA 500+ series and 200+ game.
Central will try to match the school’s winning streak record of 8 matches on Wednesday (3-6-13) against Baton Rouge High (0-7) at Circle Bowl (3:20pm).  Last week on Wednesday (2-27-13), state powerhouse St. Michael’s (5-1) crushed Baker (6-1) to leave Central as the final undefeated team in the Baton Rouge area.  Also on Wednesday, Catholic (4-4) pulled off a huge upset over Denham Springs (6-2) and gave Central a 2-game lead in the District 5A Standings.  After Wednesday’s match with Baton Rouge High, Central will bowl both teams tied for 2nd in the District 5A (Denham Springs and Scotlandville) next week in which could determine who will be the District Champion.
