Republican Committee Stumbles

The PEC, or Republican Parish Executive Committee, met and voted in a secret ballot last Thursday.  The group of 17 had a choice to endorse both of the Republicans running for House Seat 65, endorse neither, or choose one over the other.  The chair of the PEC, Woody Jenkins, called the candidates Sunday and informed Scott Wilson that he would not be endorsed, yet his opponent, Barry Ivey would be.
Less than 24 hours later, on Monday, Woody Jenkins had made the decision not to announce the endorsement at a Tuesday luncheon as planned, and instead called an emergency meeting of the PEC for Wednesday at 5PM to reconsider the endorsement vote.  At that meeting, the PEC members voted 10-5 not to take a new vote on whether to endorse sitting Republican Council Member Scott Wilson.
