The Republican Women of Central are hosting the first public candidate forum featuring Scott Wilson, currently serving as Metro Council Member for District 4, and Barry Ivey campaigning for election as State Representative serving District 65. The forum will take place during RWC’s February 18th Membership Meeting and Dinner.
Both Republicans have been invited to present their qualifications, platform and vision for the seat at Sammy’s Grill in Central. Doors open for socializing at 6p.m. Meeting starts at 6:30p.m. The meeting’s format will be similar to those previously hosted for recent judicial candidates.
Both are campaigning to win an upcoming special election for the seat opened in January upon the resignation by two-term State Representative Clif Richardson, who is undergoing cancer treatment at MD Anderson Hospital.
Special guest speakers will include Jason Ellis, spokesman for Central Leadership for Tomorrow (CLT), sharing the work and vision of this growing group in Central. CLT members are invited to attend.
Mari Presedo, Blue Star Mom and RWC’s Armed Services Co-Chair will present an update on the impact of the Central area’s generous contributions to BSM’s programs.
Also speaking will be Lauren Ventrella, recently appointed by the East Baton Rouge Metro Council to serve on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board in January, as well as elected to the 2013 Executive Board of Republican Women of Central as Corresponding Secretary.
Seating is limited to 70 on a first come, first served basis. Cost for meeting including dinner with choice of 4 entrees and beverage is $20 for public and $15 for RWC/LFRW members. All registered Republicans are invited to join. For information on membership, sponsorship and upcoming events, email
