The Wildcats were able to prove their worth in the EBR Tournament by beating Baker and Istrouma. Istrouma came into the game as the #2 seed in the tournament and a favorite to make it to the finals. Central was paced by junior guard Jordin Williams (20 points) and senior guard Cameron Brooks (12 points). The Wildcats then dropped two close games to Zachary and Tara. The Wildcats quickly responded in their final non-district game against West Feliciana in a 51-47 victory. All of these games led up to the key district opener against long-time rival Zachary. The Broncos came into the game in the top 15 after knocking off the Wildcats earlier in the season, but this time Central escaped with a 46-43 win. The Wildcats led at the end of each quarter and were paced by an incredible defensive performance and double digit scoring performances from Jordin Williams (17 points) and Justin Jemison (16 points).
The Wildcats now sit at 7-7 overall and 1-0 in District 4-5A play. They take on Denham Springs this Friday night at home and then #1 Scotlandville Tuesday as district play continues. Central looks to stay competitive and make it into the playoffs as just four and a half weeks remain in the regular season. Come out and support your Wildcat basketball team.
