Leslie E. Burl, Jr. Retires from Navy

   On Saturday, December 15, 2012 CMDCM (AW) Leslie E. Burl, Jr. retired from the United States Navy with 30 years of service. The retirement ceremony was held at the World War 2 Museum in New Orleans. Les and his wife Tammy are Central residents. In attendance were wife Tammy, daughters  Melissa Gooley (Champlain, New York), Cecilia and Joseph Jones (Denham Springs), Jamie, Ariel, Clair, and Tamara Shows (Central), his grandchildren Carter, Logan and Emma Gooley (Champlain, New York). His mother, Shirley Burl and sister Teal Burl (Summerville SC). Others in attendance were in-laws Wayne and Diane Leader, Craig and Laurie Leader (Central), Pam, Allen, Brooks, and Brett Cannon (Greenville, SC) plus many friends and Military personnel. 
    His family is extremely proud of all of Les’ accomplishments and thank him for his service to our country. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
    Les was a Petty Officer for 22 years and completed his career as the Base Command Master Chief for the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, New Orleans in Belle Chase, La.
