The Central Chamber of Commerce is continuously planning, developing, and implementing activities to enhance the success of its members and the wellbeing of the Central Community.  A main factor contributing to the success of these many activities is an organization referred to as the Chamber Ambassador Program.  This group was founded in 2010 by Chairperson Juanita Ross.  Juanita also serves as Vice President of Membership Retention for the local chamber.
Ambassadors are chamber members who donate their time and expertise to the success of the organization’s many activities.  Through these events the Central Chamber carries out its mission which is:  To guide, inspire and promote the business and professional interests of its members and to enhance the economic, cultural and recreational opportunities of the citizens of Central.
As 2012 comes to an end, and the Central Chamber of Commerce reflects on its many successful functions of the year,  it is most appropriate that we acknowledge our “Ambassadors of the Quarter” for this year.  This award is given to an Ambassador who best exemplifies a spirit of volunteerism and dedication to the Chamber’s Ambassador Committee.
The first winner of this award in 2012 was Sandy Antoon.  Sandy attends many Chamber functions and loves to visit with area business owners discussing their needs and opportunities.  Along with husband John Antoon they own and operate their business, Covers Unlimited located at 13140 Hooper Road.  Sandy was born in Baton Rouge and moved to Central in 1968.  Founder of Claire Marie’s Boutique, she has a great admiration for Central and her ambition is to continue meeting people and giving back to the community she loves.
The second quarter winner in 2012 was Melissa Guilbeau.  Melissa is very active in many Chamber activities and serves as chairperson of the decorating committee for the chamber’s annual Mardi Gras Ball.  She moved to Central when she was six years old and is married to Central native Marty Guilbeau.  They have two children, Spencer and Cassie.  Melissa opened Central Florist in 1996 and sold the business in 2011 in order to spend more time with her family.  She is currently employed with Central Speaks.
The third quarter award was earned by Christine Guillaume.  She is very vibrant and has provided resources to new members during Chamber networking events.  Along with husband James Guillaume they own and operate NAPA Auto Parts, located at 9344A Joor Road in Central.  Christine is also a Dental Hygienist and is dedicated to helping our chamber grow.
The fourth quarter recipient of this award will be announced at the chamber’s annual awards banquet In January.  For information about the Ambassador Committee, contact Chairperson Juanita Ross at 225.261.5818 or email [email protected].
