Central Succumbs to Mandeville

You could sense an uncertainty in the air last Friday night in Wildcat Stadium.  Even though Central was the higher seed and had played lights out football for most of the season, the fans in attendance were concerned Mandeville might be the team that would end Central’s season.
And so it happened, Central’s road to the dome ended in a second round loss, 38-20 to the Skippers.  The Wildcats had their worst performance of the year against a Mandeville team that prepared for Central’s best.  Central’s best could have probably beaten the Skippers, but it was not meant to be.  The agony of the loss was evident in the faces of the fans, coaches and players, especially the seniors who played their last game for the maroon and white.  What a great group of young men, this senior class, four year district champs, the most wins of any senior class in school history, this class was special.  Coach Sid said after the game, “At some point you lose, but the tough part for me is not being able to continue the season with my team. I love them.”
Central Football had a great year and made a lot of memories for the senior class of 2013.  The future looks bright and the road to the dome will continue next year.
