A sad but somehow fitting story about last Friday's CHS Football win. Central lost Milam Venable at Wildcat Stadium during pregame. Mr. Venable, who had been in failing health, loved CHS Football and had his "regular" place in the stands. EMS responded quickly but were unable to revive him. His son, Jay Venable was there with him there in the stands, as always, and grandson Micah Jay Venable was on the field as a member of the CHS football team.
Both Jay and Micah Jay stayed for the game, as we are all sure Milam Venable would have wanted. Jay shared with me later in the stands, "If you have to go, it's great that you go out doing what you love…and he loved Central Football."
Our prayers and encouragement go out to the entire family, and I am certain that Milam Venable will be thought of fondly as the Wildcats take the field again this Friday. -Dave Freneaux
