Students at the New Central Middle School students were given the opportunity to learn how fire extinguishers work first hand. Mr. Bobby Eller: Assistant Fire Chief of the Central Volunteer Fire Department came to Mrs. Gardner’s Family and Consumer Science Class to teach them the proper methods of using fire extinguishers and the different types of fires to use them on.
Students were taught the three elements of a fire, as well as, steps to use to extinguish the small fires before they destroy property. Mr. Eller's presentation emphasized the importance of knowing the type of fire and the type of extinguisher to use, always remembering your safety and your families safety if the first priority After the power-point presentation Mr. Eller and the class demonstrated the PASS system as they out simulated fires with a waster pressure fire extinguisher. P-pull the pin, A-Aim the nozzle,S-squeeze the trigger, and S-weep from left to right. Thanks again to the fire department for allowing the students to be pro-active in their class and at home, in regard to fire safety.
