Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
In Matthew, chapter 13, we find the parable of the wheat and tares.
In this parable the servants of the land owner come to a startling discovery, tares, as well as the wheat, are growing in the field! They quickly run to tell the owner who makes the statement, “An enemy has done this.”
In our lives it is easy to be upset at the fact that there are tares growing in our field that we have to deal with. In this parable it is easy to focus on the gathering of the wheat and especially to what happens to those nasty little tares! Those are important and interesting points; however, there are other great truths that must not be missed.
First, what the master plants will grow! Even though the enemy sows the tares, He that has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it! No matter how many gnarly little tares want to grow around us, if you will hear, receive, and obey the word you will grow! You cannot be stopped! So determine to grow and to keep on growing. Growing is what you were created to do.
We all get discouraged at times with the tares that try to create havoc in our lives and may even feel like “throwing in the towel.” So many times our greatest breakthrough is preceded by our greatest discouragement! Even Jesus, right before His ministry was launched, faced three of His greatest temptations. What if He had quit? It is hard to imagine the ramifications. So remember that from glory to glory He is changing us. We are growing, maturing, and multiplying! As we walk, talk, and live out the Word of God, we can expect ultimate victory!
Secondly, there is still a harvest. The secret is out! When all is said and done, guess what, you can make it! Your master is not going to leave you nor forsake you. I am my beloved's and he his mine! He has promised to gather us unto himself and there we will abide forever. He will finish what He started in you! Now those are reassuring truths!
Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
When you are about to see your greatest breakthrough stay focused! Even though the tares maybe trying to distract you and choke out your life, lift up your eyes, keep looking to the Lord, and declaring His Word. Help is on the way! The “Finisher” will come through, finish the work and you will reap a harvest!
