Maybelle Lesage Cannon passed away Monday, September 10th with her family by her bedside. She was a devoted mother who raised her six children largely on her own after her first husband and her children's father passed away. She was and will continue to be an inspiration to many as she persevered through some very hard times through hard work, determination, and faith. She retired as a school bus driver. She was a great cook, caregiver, and friend. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and one her proudest moments was when St. Alphonsus honored her by inducting her into their hall of fame.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Perry M. Cobb, and her second husband and wonderful stepfather, James D. Cannon. She is survived by five children, Phyllis Martin, Richard Cobb, Peggy McCutcheon, Carl Cobb, and Jeff Cobb. Her son, Charles Cobb, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Bobbie Pearson and Jeanette Williams.   She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was laid to rest on September 13th at Greenoaks Cemetary.  Pallbearers were grandsons Johnny McGee, RJ McCutcheon, and Bert McCutcheon along with great grandsons Justin St. Romain, Bert McCutcheon, Jr. and Austin McCutcheon. The family wants to thank the many friends that visited mother and kept her in their prayers, particularly the ladies of the St. Alphonsus and St. Louis King of France Alter Societies. We also thank Hospice of Baton Rouge and the nurse aides at Lake Sherwood Village for helping mother during the struggle of her final days and hours.
