Jackets for Excellence
Is the glass half empty or half full? The answer to that question depends on your perspective.  Often times, it is so easy to notice all the negative things that are going on in our society that we fail to notice the many positive events occurring on a daily basis.  Face it, “Students Vandalize School” will make the news where as “Students Earn Academic Honors” would most likely not.  One of our local news stations has started a series called “Hand It On” that focuses on the good being done by people all over our area.  The station should be commended for focusing on these positive stories.  The Central Chamber is excited to have the opportunity to partner with Central High School to help promote something very positive.
We are truly blessed, as a city, to have private, public, and parochial academic institutions that encourage excellence.  Central High is taking the initiative to recognize their students who have attained academic excellence by providing them with academic letter jackets.  The Chamber and its businesses have been asked to help sponsor this program.  Our Board of Directors, without hesitation, has decided to help promote and support this initiative.  We are proud of our students who strive for excellence, realizing that they are our potential leaders for tomorrow.  So in advance, we congratulate all the students who have qualified for this recognition and thank our businesses for believing in our young people enough to help sponsor this program.  If you would like to help with this effort please contact the Chamber office at 261-5818.  Way to go students!
