Packed Schedule
Fall marks the start of our busiest months in the chamber’s year. We will hold several events, over the next few months, that will allow business to be highlighted, create revenue for our area businesses, show case our community, and allow our citizens to enjoy a good time. Here is a brief break down of what is coming, so you can make plans to be involved.
Towards the end of October we will be hosting the first annual Chamber Costume Bash at Kristenwood. This will take place on October 27, from 8pm – 12am and will include sponsorship opportunities, a carved pumpkin contest, prize for best costume, music provided by a DJ, and much more. The event is for ages 21 on up and only costs $15! Also, during the month of October, we will be in the process of putting together the 2013 Central Phonebook and Chamber Directory!
Pageantry will abound in November as we host the Second Annual Miss City of Central Beauty Pageant. There will be nine different age categories with the title of “Miss City of Central” going to someone from the 17 on up age group. Last year was our first pageant and with over 60 participants it was a tremendous success! We are looking forward to an even better and larger pageant this year. The pageant will take place on Saturday, November 17 at the Central High School Auditorium.
The weekend of November 30 – December 2, marks the City of Central Chamber of Commerce’s 26th Annual Christmas Parade and Festival. The “Christmas in Central” Parade and Festival is one of the longest running premier events in our city. Many people look forward to this time of the year and to the activities surrounding the festival. What a wonderful way to begin the holiday season! We sincerely hope you will join us by taking part in this year’s “Christmas in Central”. Watch for further announcements as to dates and times for all of the events.
Besides all these special events, we will be holding our regular monthly member luncheons. On October 10, we will have Julie Laperouse, Director of BRAC’s Talent Development program, as our guest speaker. This program focuses in on how we can retain talented graduates in the state of Louisiana. In November we will hold our elections for the Board of Directors and we will finish the year with our annual Members’ Christmas Social on December 13.
With all these events taking place, this is a great time to be involved with the chamber. If you would like more information on how you and your business can be involved, contact the Chamber Office at 261-5818.
