Reverend Fred Luter to Speak at Zoar Baptist

    On October 2, 2012 Zoar Baptist Church will host keynote speaker Rev. Fred Luter, president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Rev. Luter is senior pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, New Orleans.

    The historic nature of this event is Rev. Luter is the first African American president of the Southern Baptist Convention.  His address will be part of the annual meeting of the Baptist Association of Greater Baton Rouge to begin at 7:00 p.m.  Dr. Kevin Hand,  senior pastor of Zoar, said of Luter:  “Fred is an incredible preacher and wonderful man.  What’s amazing to me, however, has been his inspirational leadership in helping rebuild the lives of New Orleans residents after Katrina.  It’s an honor to have a person of his caliber at the helm of the Southern Baptist Convention.”

    A Missions and Ministry fair, beginning at 6:00 p.m. will precede the meeting. A community choir composed of Baton Rouge area churches will lead worship. Everyone is invited to attend.
