The C4 Report from the City of Central Chamber of Commerce: Stay Connected/Thanks!

By  |

“Stay Connected! All we wanted was to just stay connected!”  That was the opening to an article I wrote back in June.  At the time, the article was about the importance of staying connected through the networking opportunities provided through the chamber. This last week that phrase, “Stay Connected” took on a different meaning for many in our area.  Once again, we found ourselves enduring a hurricane and then dealing with its aftermath.

First let me say, that compared to our neighbors to the south and east of us, what most of us have had to deal with after the storm, thankfully, are mostly minor issues.  Our thoughts and prayers extend to the many whose lives have been totally disrupted by the hurricane and rising flood waters.

Since starting these articles for the chamber of commerce, I’ve often taken opportunities to highlight aspects that make our community great.  So many times it is easy to take for granted the folks who provide services for our city.  From government officials, fire fighters, police and sheriff’s departments, and other emergency responders we are protected and served, especially during special circumstances as we faced this past week.  However, when it comes to being electrically connected we depend upon power companies in our area.  We often do not realize that, even before the storm has the chance to fully pass, these folks from the power companies are already springing into action to return our lives back to normalcy.  Without their efforts, things could come to a halt!  We depend on the availability of electricity to keep our community and commerce running.  This week we salute the fine efforts of all the folks at DEMCO and ENTERGY for helping us all to stay connected!
Back to staying connected through networking! Mark your calendar and do not forget that we have a Membership Luncheon scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, at Kristenwood.  Doors open at 11:30am.  See you then!
