Coach Mike Longmire has high expectations for his Rebels’ season this year.  With 7 returning seniors and lots of experienced juniors, he believes Central Private can really take it to their opponents.  “We’re excited.  We have 24 players on the team.  We are off to a good start with our 32-12 defeat of Cenla Christian in Pineville last week.”
Coach Longmire credits several key players for the strengths they bring to the team.  “Rhett Seguin, a junior, is our Center and Left Back.  He brings lots of experience.  Two of our players, Kyle Blackburn, a senior, and Ryan Goldman, a junior, have been playing since 8th grade.  Kyle is our Quarterback and Leftback, and Ryan plays Tailback and Safety.  Key defensive players are Daniel Basham, who plays Tackle and is an Offensive Guard, and Logan Prather, Defensive Tackle and Left Guard.  Both are juniors.  A big key to our offensive front is Mason O’Quinn, a senior who plays Tight End and outside Linebacker. Caleb Kerstens, a Denham Springs transfer who is 6’4” and 285 pounds, will be holding down Right Tackle and Defensive Tackle.”  Coach Longmire shares that he sees the team’s biggest challenge is the need for a little more depth.  Many key players are holding down several positions.
With 12 lettermen returning, Coach Longmire and his entire staff are excited about their team.  They have high hopes to defeat their biggest rival, Centerville Academy.  “They’re well coached, they have a good football team,” Coach states. Key in their defense will  be junior Shawn Fitch, who plays Defensive End and Flanker Offence, and Brennan Fucich, Defensive End and Fullback.  Also in the Rebels’ sights are Oak Forest, “they do a great job”, Bowling Green,  and,  of course, traditional rival Silliman Academy.  Coach Longmire believes, “As long as the kids believe in themselves and work hard, we’ll do well.”  Good luck and best wishes for a successful and healthy season, Central Private!
