Growth for Central
This past Saturday I had the privilege of attending the Grand Opening Ceremony for the Central Community School System’s new 3rd – 8th grade facility.  To say the least, it was impressive! Congratulations go out to all who were involved in helping this “Phoenix” rise out of the ashes!
The first time the voters were asked to approve a tax proposal for a new school facility it failed.  Voters were not ready to commit that much money to promises and an idea on paper after several disappointments in years past.  Fortunately, the second time was the charm!  Voters in Central backed the proposal and now the fulfillment of promises can be seen!  I encourage you to go by and see what a tremendous facility our students, teachers, and staff have at their disposal in order to help foster excellence in education for our community.
When Central took over the reins of our schools, the current enrollment was around 2,600 students.  This year’s enrollment looks to be around 4,300 students.  With the achievement of great tests scores, high state rankings, and new facilities we can be confident that growth is going to continue! Growth can sometimes seem intimidating and is not always comfortable but often is necessary.  Therefore, we must continue to support our community’s businesses and look for avenues to create economic growth so that we can continue to provide a tax base to handle the blessings that a great educational system will provide.
The City of Central and the Central Community School System are both rising stars on the radar of our state!  With the support of our community, the dedicated efforts of our current business owners, ambitious entrepreneurs, and a growing group of young business owners and professionals, the commerce sector of our community will join the afore mentioned as a recognizable rising star as well.  With proper guidance, vision and determination, Central has a bright future!  So remember, now and in the holiday season ahead – Shop, Invest, and Grow Central!
