Dear Parents,
This information concerns auditions for the role of Munchkins/Flying Monkeys/Ozians/Winkins for our spring musical The Wizard of Oz. The height for the Munchkins is important, not so much the age; naturally, the Munchkins should be short. These parts are for elementary age through 8th grade.  The possibility exists of double casting roles so that means an Ozian might also be a Munchkin, etc.  The audition dates and times are Thursday, September 6 from 3-4 p.m. and from 4-5, or 5-6 p.m. and Saturday, September 8 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. or from 2:30-3:30 p.m. with callbacks, if needed from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Saturday.  You will be notified if you are called back. The auditions will be held in the theater, and only those auditioning will be admitted.  You enter at the back door by the band room at the back of the school.
If cast, the following will be required: You will be responsible for providing your own costumes, either making them or renting them.  That decision has not been finalized.  Pictures will be provided for you if they are made.  Also, the choreographer and I will determine the kind of shoes you will wear.  Rehearsals will begin around the last week of February and run until the opening of the show.  The performance dates are April 18-21, 2013.  The rehearsals times are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30-8:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. There are NO rehearsals during the holidays.  I will do my best to have rehearsals for young ones once a week, more than likely on Saturdays; however, occasionally, you may have to come more, and the last two weeks of rehearsal, ALL cast members will be at ALL rehearsals; a complete schedule will be provided for you if you are cast at a later date.
This show is a beloved musical, and, of course, we want to put our “best ruby red slippers” forward.   You will learn at the auditions a brief part of one of the songs, “Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead,” some choreography, and then asked to do the best you can to perform what you just learned.  You may be asked to sing a particular part or read a particular part as well.
If your child is interested in auditioning, please print out the attached casting sheet from the website, and bring the sheet with you when you come to audition.  You can email me at [email protected] to sign up for your time.  I will then send you a confirmation by email.
Thanks so much for your interest, and hope to see you at the auditions.

Theatrically yours,
Vickie Burt
