Hurricane Preparedness Tips from DEMCO
PRESS RELEASE
As Tropical Storm Isaac draws closer to the coastal waters of Louisiana, DEMCO continues its process of preparedness that follows the electric cooperative’s Emergency Management Plan.
Part of that plan includes calling in crews from other areas of the country that are part of a cooperative agreement to aid in the case of a scenario such as Tropical Storm Isaac. DEMCO crew members will be working alongside and directing the efforts of hundreds of additional crews sent to assist in the response to this call to action.
As the path of Isaac is predicted to impact the Capital region, David Latona, manager of member and public relations for DEMCO, reviews several ways for members to remain aware of the latest news regarding the electric cooperative. “At www.demco.org members can gather valuable information that can be of great use before, during and after an event such as this.”
Latona notes that while many of the tips found on the sight seem simple to remember, they are often disregarded during an emergency.
According to Latona, “the DEMCO website will be a wealth of information for all of our members and the community during and after the storm. We will be updating in a real-time format all outage information, press releases and any additional information that may be helpful to our members.”
Members are asked to report power outages at www.demco.org from your PC or smart phone, by utilizing the free DEMCO app available in the App Store or Android Market, or by calling 225-261-1160 and using our automated system.
