It's hard to find an adult between the ages of 35 and 45 in Central that doesn't remember the original Central Bobcats as well as the team's founder Coach Gene Robillard. This famous orange & black youth football team began its legacy in 1977. Some people today will tell you that they still remember the orange & black truck riding through Central picking up and dropping players off after practice each day.
Mrs. Kathleen Robillard (Coach Gene’s wife) says, “I just wanted to thank you for honoring my Gene like this. He would be so proud. He put a lot of time, sweat, and a few fears into the Bobcats. This was what our fall was all about, get home from work load the truck with kids and head to Jackson Park. We were blessed by the kids and their parents. Such awesome times! At the end before Gene died these kids, now adults, still called him coach. And the smile was on his face. These kids, now men came up to me at his funeral and talked about what an influence he made in their lives. Hey, who could ask for more?”………
The decision to continue Coach Gene's and the Bobcat's legacy has been made by introducing the “The Return of the Bobcats”. The NEW Central Bobcats first season will begin next year (2013 football season).
