A Time to Be Born
James Ledell Brown Sr. was born on October 16,1967, to Charles Brown and Rodessa Johnson Veal. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Elijah Brown at Ebenezer Baptist Church. He continued his devotion to Christ at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Stanley L. Plain Sr.
A Time to Plant
James graduated from Central High School in 1986 and was a letterman on the Varsity football team. On April 17, 1988, he joined the 82nd Airborne Division {Paratrooper}, "America's Guard of Honour". Rendering his service of 8 years as a proud fighter for his country, he fought in Panama {1989} and the Gulf War {1990}. He was honourably discharged in 1994. He continued to serve and protect the people by becoming a security guard at Sunburst Bank in 1994, where he heroically saved 9 lives and recovered the bank's money from a would be bank robber. James decided not to ever touch a gun again. James devoted his life in protection and service to his family and friends.
A Time to Rest
James departed this earthly world on May 25, 2012. His loving memories will be cherished by his father, Charles Brown, mother, Rodessa Johnson Veal {reared with the guidance of David Veal}, three daughters: Lacy and Sarah Brown {mother, Cynthia Brown}, and Bria Marie Narcise, {mother, Sheree Narcise}; one son, James Ledell Brown Jr. {Aimee}{mother, Cynthia Brown}, all of Baton Rouge, La; four brothers, Kenny Johnson {Francis}, Ft. Walton Beach Fl., Shelton {Shelly} Johnson, Lawrence {Patricia} Johnson, and Wesley {Tomicko} Brown, all of Baton Rouge, La; two sisters, Sharon J. Hills {Lester} and LaWanda Williams {all of Baton Rouge, La.}; one grandson, Edward Lazard Jr., {Baton Rouge, La.}; seven nieces, Tamika Green, Precious Moore {Christopher}, Tyra Davis, Sierra Williams, Miracle Johnson, Ebony Thomas, Jalia Decuir {all of Baton Rouge, La.}; seven nephews: Quincey Johnson, Joseph Davis, Trevor Thomas, Darius Brown, Jerry Decuir Jr. Ronald George, and DeShawn Brown {all of Baton Rouge, La.}; and a host of aunts, uncles, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Maternal and Paternal grandparents;, aunts, Willie Mae Crockett, Agnes Breckenridge, Bernice Butler, and Vivian Butler, and uncles, Norman Johnson, Allen Ward, and Dalton Brown.
