Historical Society Presents Public Lecture on the Holy Land

By  |

Reverend Lewis Morris, pastor of the Magnolia United Methodist Church, will give a second presentation on his recent trip to Israel with a team of ministers and lay persons sponsored by Bishop Bill Hutchinson, Bishop of the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. Morris said, “Your life will never be the same after you visit the Holy Land”. “I was walking in the footsteps of the Master.”

Morris combines his knowledge of history together with his lifelong study and devotion to Christianity to give Central a unique view of the beginnings of Christianity up to current time. His power point presentation and lecture follows Jesus from his birth to his death. Morris then talks about the modern state of Israel and how Israel has become established as a democratic power in the Middle East.
Reverend Morris retired in 2009 from the Department of State as the Assistant Archivist for the state of Louisiana. He holds a BA in History and a MEd in History from Mississippi State University. Morris is now pastor of the Magnolia United Methodist Church of Central and Deerford United Methodist Church of Central.
Morris’ lecture on the Holy Land will be held on Monday, July 9,  2012  at  Magnolia United Methodist Church (16024 Greenwell Springs Road in Central) at 7:00 pm. The public is invited. Light refreshments will be provided by the Church. For more information, contact Chris at the Church Office at 261-2789 or Vicki at 261-8824.
