Republican Women of Central will be hosting a "Virtual Baby Shower" to benefit the North Baton Rouge Women's Help Center at their July 18th Membership Meeting. This community outreach event and special meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 18th, from 11:15a.m. to 1p.m. at Kristenwood. The public is invited to attend and bring donations of baby-related items.
It is "virtual" because it is not specifically for one mother or baby, but for all who may need support and help. It is the first of its kind in the greater Baton Rouge area. This vitally important center for those needing anonymity to seek free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, information on all options of pregnancy, STD information, AIDS testing, medical treatment referrals, offers free private and confidential consultations, Christian counseling, GED completion, prenatal and parenting counseling, child loss recovery, adoption referrals, support andencouragement. Clients are served without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, disability, or other arbitrary circumstances.
Guest speaker will be Barbara Thomas, NBRWHC Founder and President, whose 25 years of Pro-Life efforts to help those in need will be recognized. Barbara is a conservative Christian Republican, mother, grandmother and advocate who also ran for State Representative in the Central/Zachary area. She is the First Vice President of the Republican Women of Baton Rouge and associate member of RWC.
"This is an excellent opportunity for families to clean out their closets and donate unneeded items their children have outgrown and no longer need," said RWC President Joan Lansing. "Central is known for its generosity, and we hope this event will not only help our members become more familiar with Barbara's mission, but to support the NBRWHC's future efforts to help teens and young women in our community," she said.
The public is invited to bring "gifts" by donating childcare necessities such as gently used clean baby and children's clothing, high chairs, strollers, bottles, formula, disposable diapers (packages may be opened), baby wipes, baby foods, diaper bags or gift cards from Walmart, grocery stores, Babies R Us or other similar retailers. Maternity clothes in good condition and school supplies are also needed. Gifts and donations do not need to be gift wrapped. All items should be clean, safe and need no repairs. All gifts will be greatly appreciated.
Anyone may bring donations to Kristenwood before the meeting, whether they attend or not. Transportation of donations will be provided after the meeting.
