Baton Rouge, Louisiana, June 26, 2012 – On Thursday, July 12, 2012, the City of Central and the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) will hold a grand opening for the organization’s latest senior center (17070 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739) beginning at 12:00 p.m.
The new senior center will serve as an access point for the senior citizens of the area. Services offered by the EBRCOA at this new facility will include: hot meals (served Monday-Friday), social activities, wellness programs, health screens, exercise, games and more.
“2012 has been a tremendous year of growth for our organization,” says Tasha Clark-Amar, EBRCOA CEO/Executive Director who joined the agency back in July 2011. “With the help of the City of Central in opening this new senior center, the EBRCOA will be even better prepared to meet the emergent and changing needs of the seniors of the parish.”
“The City of Central has always been on the forefront of providing outstanding facilities, programs and opportunities for our youth, now with the opening of the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging Program here in the City of Central we have the opportunity to continue the legacy by providing new programs and opportunities to our cherished seniors,” says Central Mayor Shelton “Mac” Watts. “Welcome to Central, Council on Aging.”
The EBRCOA has nineteen sites throughout the parish of East Baton Rouge Parish where the elderly can participate in a variety of senior-specific programs dedicated to ensuring that they live long, independent lives and remain engaged members of the communities they help to build.
