Central Area Baton Twirlers Impress at State Competition

    On Saturday, May 19, the Central Area Baton Twirlers, under the direction of coach Jamie Guillot, traveled to Kenner, Louisiana to compete in the Louisiana State Baton Twirling Competition.  This year the girls traveled twice to Jackson, MS to compete and also to Fairhope, Alabama.  They marched in the Central Christmas Parade and held a fundraiser performance in January.

    Two teams received state champion titles: Born This Way is the Nov. Preteen LA State show Twirl Team Champions and Tea Party is the Novice Junior LA State Dance Twirl Team Champions.  Latin Style placed second in the Nov. Juvenile LA State Dance Twirl team division.

    The indidivdual titles are as follows, and the twirlers are from schools all around the area, including several from Central schools:
Alexis Brugier was crowned Int. Senior Miss Majorette of Louisiana.  Lacey Brugier received second in Miss Majorette of Louisiana and is the Junior Louisiana State Two-Baton Champion.  Victoria Williams was crowned Int. Junior Miss Majorette of Louisiana, Int. Junior Miss Crescent City, Junior Louisiana State Strut Queen Champion, Beg. Junior Louisiana State Two-Baton Champion, and received 1st place in show twirl.  Sarah LeDuff was crowned Novice Junior Miss Majorette of Louisiana and Novice Junior Miss Crescent City Majorette, and she receieved second place in show twirl.  Destiny Bozeman was crowned Novice Junior Louisiana State Strut Queen and received second place in Miss Majorette of Louisiana.  Leah Howell was crowned Novice Junior Louisiana State Basic Skills Champion.  Mya Levet was crowned the Beginner Preteen Miss Majorette of Louisiana.  Kiersten Kelly was crowned Novice Preteen Miss Majorette of Louisiana, Novice Preteen Basic Skills Champion,  Novice Preteen Louisiana State Strutting Champion, and won 1st place in Best Appearing and Show Twirl.  Lena Foster received 4th place in the Basic Skills pageant.  Kayla Hall received the novice Preteen Louisiana State Military Champion title and fifth place in Basic Skills.  Samantha Hill and received fourth place in Miss Majorette of Louisiana.  Jhayce Smith was awarded the title Novice Juvenile Louisiana State Strutting Champion, she also received third place in Miss Majorette of Louisiana, 1st place in Best Appearing, and 1st place in Show Twirl.  Emily Courtney received second place in Miss Majorette of Louisiana and second place in Miss Crescent City.  Caura Holiday was crowned the Novice Juvenile Miss Majorette of Louisiana and Novice Juvenile Miss Cresent City and 1st place in show twirl.  Jalivia Johnson was awarded Novice Juvenile Louisiana State Basic, Military, and Twirling Champion.  Miesha Hill received 4th place in state solo, 5th place in state basic, and 3rd place in state military.  MaKayla Hill received 6th place in state solo, 3rd place in state basic, and 2nd place in state military.  Shelbie Newman was crowned the Novice Juvenile Louisian State Basic Skills Champion.  Amirah Pate received 1st place in open Basic and Solo, 4th in State Solo, and 2nd in State Basic.  Jaelyn Johnson received the Novice Tot Lousianan State Basic, Military, and Twirling Champion titles.  Jahymiah Johnson received 1st place in open basic and solo.
