CAPA Corner: Words of Encouragement from the Central Area Pastors Association
“Summer time and the livin’ is easy!”
Or so said Gershwin in one of his many hits.
For most people in Central summer time does mean a swimming pool, fresh home-grown tomatoes, cookouts, vacation Bible school, no school (!), watermelons, and travel. The pace of living may not slow but it at least changes during the summer.
This summer amid all the hot, humid days of ball games, summer reading, and days on the water, remember the following:
· Read the Bible
· Donate your used school uniforms to CCAF
· Attend worship services each week
· Pay the bills BEFORE you leave for vacation
· Spend time each day in prayer
· Give your tithe to your church before your trip.
· Water around your house’s foundation during the dry weeks
· Write a note or letter to encourage a friend (handwritten notes mean more in today’s digital age.)
· Give an extra dollar to a utility company’s community assistance fund
Enjoy the summer as a season that God has given us. Make it count for Him!
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV)
