Central Private takes over the top spot in district 6AA by sweeping the defending state champions in a 3 game series.  Jonathan Nicosia (3-0) pitched game 1 and got the win by out dueling LSU commitment Hunter Devall in a 2 to 1 game.  Game 2 Brennan Fucich (5-1) and Grant Wideman combined to pitch a shutout to help the Rebels take the game.  With the score tied at 0 – 0 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Seth Stevens hit a 3 run homer to help propel the Rebels to a 3 – 0 victory.  Game 3 Chase Martin (6-0) got off to a rough start allowing 2 runs in the 1st inning, but Martin settled in and pitched into the 7th inning keeping the Tigers offense at bay.  Central Privates offense started strong by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Seth Stevens came in to pitch in the 7th inning and struck out the side to complete the 3 game sweep of Centreville beating them 5 – 4.  Central Private is now in 1st place in their district with one 3 game district series left vs Oak Forest.
Central Private is in Memphis, TN this week playing in a National High School tournament.  The Rebels left on Tuesday and will return on Saturday and will play 4 games in the USA event.  Central Private’s coaches and players would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the Rebels this past Friday night for the double header and senior night.  Please continue to support our team as prepare to make a run at our 12th  State Championship.
