Farewell, “Uncle” Huey

By  |

A Central resident for over 40 years and one of its greatest supporters, "Uncle Huey" Kinchen passed away on February 15 at the age of 83.  A World War II veteran, Uncle Huey saw action in 7 battles in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa.  He retired from Texaco after 35 years of service, having achieved the position of Plant Superintendant.  One of the founders of the Central Fire Department, Uncle Huey served as its chief for 7 years. He was married to his first wife, the late Ethel Boudreaux, for 43 years.  Uncle Huey leaves behind his wife of 16 years, Mary Jane, only son Huey Jr., and 2 grandchildren. We'll miss you, Uncle Huey!
