Garretson and Waits Can’t Help Central Bowling Overcome Being a Bowler Down
Central High (0-2) bowled a very competitive match against Zachary High (1-1) at Metro Bowl on Thursday (1-26-12) afternoon, but came up a little short losing 7-20. The match was considerably closer than the final score will indicate. Unfortunately due to an illness to one of the Wildcat bowlers, Central had to compete down a bowler and bowl 5 on 6.
Bryan Waits (Junior) came out hot, bowling a 224 and Lindsey Giacone (Senior) stepped up with a 154 in the 1st Game. Waits and Giacone helped the team to a competitive 786 series in Game 1 to Zachary’s 867. Central trailed after the Game 1 down 3-5, but even with being a bowler down, Central only trailed Zachary in the most important category (Total Pins) by 81 pins.
Waits continued his good bowling in Game 2 with a 178 and Jacob Garretson (Freshman) topped that with a 221. Central bowled a 762 series to Zachary’s 873.
Although Central was down 5-11 and 192 pins going into Game 3, Central did not give up. In Game 3, Garretson set the building on fire with an outstanding 264, Waits threw a 199 and the rest of the Wildcats bowled strong to finish with an 823 series. With an extra bowler, Zachary only bowled an 849 series.
Overall Central lost the match, but showed they won’t back down from any team, even if they’re down a bowler. Central’s talented 1-2 Punch once again led the team. Garretson (currently averaging 205.83) shot a team season high 642 series (264, team season high game) and Waits (185 avg) shot a 601 series (224). Giacone chipped in with a 399 series (154) and Sean Murphy (Sophomore) bowled a 401 series (143). Zachary was lead by Marquisse Taylor with a 509 series (188).
Central’s next match is Monday (1-30-12) at All Star Lanes (3:20PM) against one of the District 5A favorites, Denham Springs (2-0).
