Updates from the Central High PTO

Late breaking news from your friendly CHS PTO:
 
Biggie for Seniors – If a senior is planning to attend a four year university in Louisiana, The Board of Regents had made a change to the graduation requirements for the class of 2012. Graduates will need to have successfully completed four units of mathematics, English, science and social studies for admission to a Louisiana public four-year university.  A JPAMS call will be sent out to homes on Sunday night explaining this. There are some seniors(those planning on attending four-year universities in the state) that may need to change their schedule again so they can meet these requirements. The Guidance office will be ready to meet with seniors this Monday morning beginning at 7:00 a.m.
 
8/2 Request for help from choir director, Ms Turner – help needed to move things back into the choir room since it has been
renovated. I'm planning to spend next Tuesday working in there. Anyone
who could come and help would be appreciated; they can e-mail me at

8/7 Jericho Prayer Walk all schools- Zoar Baptist youth ministry will be sponsoring prayers walks at all of our schools on Aug. 7th 6:30 p.m. Prayer guides and water will be provided. All welcome to participate and pray for our students, faculty and staff.

More information to help you help your student prepare for a great school year at CHS:
Senior Schedule Changes – As you may already know, many seniors are having to make adjustments to their schedules to meet the 6 hour day policy. There are several exceptions for not being required to take 6 hours. Copies of these exceptions are available at the school counselor's office.

Supply Lists – Freshman will receive their school supply list at orientation on Friday. All other students will receive their's on the first day of class.

PTO membership drive – the best $5 you'll spend your whole time at CHS. In order to keep receiving these informative emails, you must renew your membership asap. We want you to know the scoop and stay in the loop! If you didn't get renewed at orientation, please print out attached form and mail it and payment to address provided. PTO school information email updates will only be going to current members only starting in September, so don't delay….

JPAMS – if you don't have a login for JPAMS, the website with your student's grades, attendance, etc, make sure and get a form turned in to the front office so that you can get your password and get get hooked up. Used uniforms – many families are in need of of uniforms and the Central Community Assistance Foundation would like to encourage you that if you have some used uniforms that are in good condition, please bring them to the school board office or Walgreens.

PE Equipment Request – our PE department is looking for any help in donations of the following items to use on rainy days and to enhance our PE offering. If you have any of these items, please email PE teacher, Donna Worsham, at [email protected]

• (10) 4×8 sheets of plywood, 20 sawhorses and green paint for ping pong
• ping pong balls and paddles
• badmitton raquets and birdies
• basketballs
• X-Box and Dance, Dance, Dance game / Wii / or any gaming system that is not broken
• Mats for tumbling
• Balance Beam
• 1-2" square 1" plywood with swivel wheels on corners (scooters)
• archery equipment
• Sound System (Ms Worsham has one in mind from Walmart, but if you have one that is small and in working condition, pls contact her)

Sep 15 College and Career night at Zachary Highschool (time tba)
Oct 4 Balfour ring payment at lunch
Oct 11 Balfour ring payment at lunch
Ring ceremony 7pm (only Balfour ring students will be in ceremony)
