Submitted by Jeff Stanfill
The Central Area Pastors’ Association (CAPA), Central Community Alliance (CCA), the Central Police Department, and the Denham Springs American Taekwondo Association (ATA) are joining together to help citizen’s live safer and more secure in their homes. A Home Security and Awareness seminar is being co-hosted Tuesday June 7 in DEMCO’s training facility community room. The seminar will begin at 7:00 PM.
This free seminar will feature Nathan Crawford of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department and Jason Dendy, self-defense and conditioning instructor as well as head of Denham Springs ATA. Scheduled to be covered are such topics as home security measures, guarding against vehicle burglaries, planned responses for different situations that can arise, and how to be of assistance to law enforcement if a crime occurs. Everyone is invited whether a home owner, renter, or business owner. No pre-registration is required.
Dendy initiated this seminar from a desire to give something to the community. He began by networking with members of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department and other local leaders that he knows. Many saw the benefits of such a seminar for the community of Central at large.
Crawford observes, “From 16 years of law enforcement, I can say that home and business owners benefit from being better informed and aware. A home owner is safer as they become more attentive to their surroundings.”
“Central and the surrounding communities are great places to raise families. We have a sense of safety and security here. But due diligence is always needed,” says Jeff Stanfill, member of the pastor’s association and pastor of Covenant Community Church.
DEMCO’s training facility community room is located at 16262 Wax Road, Central LA.
