Jarren Pickering Receives R Award as Redemptorist’s Outstanding Male Athlete

Life long Central resident and student athlete Jarren Pickering received the 2011 “R” award as Redemporist’s outstanding male athlete. He is the son of Danny Pickering and Michelle Pickering of Central. Recipients for the award are nominated by individual coaches through the athletic director. Athletic ability and performance are important but are not the only areas considerations with regards to this award. All nominees are also evaluated with regards to scholastic performance, leadership ability, and personal characteristics. Jarren graduated with honors with a 3.21 GPA. His athletic achievements include 11 letters from participation in football, soccer and baseball. He has received 15 post season awards including all district selections in football (wide receiver and punter), soccer (forward) and baseball (outfield, pitcher and shortstop), All Central team selections , and All Metro Baseball during his four year career at Redemptorist. He is considering offers form several colleges in both football and baseball but has yet to choose. He plans to major in Chemical engineering.
