 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT:

    I am pleased to announce that Steve Vassallo will be returning to Central as our Economic Development Consultant.  Mr. Vassallo has been with the City of Central Economic Development Committee since inception and is well versed in the needs and progress of our city.  I look forward to working with Mr. Vassallo in continuing our move forward.

CITY SERVICE COMMITTEE MEETING:

    There will be a City Service Committee Meeting Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 6:00 P.M., at the Central Fire Department conference room.  This meeting will consist of the individual committee chairmen presenting progress reports for their group.  The meeting is open to the public.

CENTRAL HIGH ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

CENTRAL HIGH FOOTBALL BANQUET:

    Central High will be hosting its Football Banquet honoring the high school football players on Friday, March 25, 2011. This event will be held at the  F.O.P. Hall, located at 10777 Greenwell Springs Road.  The meal will be provided for the ball players and all other tickets are $10.00 each. You may contact Coach Dotson at (337) 247-2024 to purchase tickets.

CENTRAL HIGH OPEN BASEBALL TOURNAMENT:

    The Central High baseball team will be hosting an open baseball tournament April 1-3, 2011 at Lovett Road Park.  The team range is T-Ball thru 14 years old.  Entry fee is $250.00.  For entry information you may contact: Austin Myers at (225) 636-0390 or by email: [email protected], or Daryl Stevens at (225) 405-8709.

    Also, this Friday night, February 11th, is senior night for the C.H.S. basketball players who will be honored during the game.

    Be sure to get out and support our athletes and their programs.

CENTRAL COMMUNITY THEATRE:

    Congratulations go out to the Central Community Theatre Troupe.  This group of young Central Citizens went to Atlanta to compete on the national level in Theatre production.  In doing so they brought home numerous first place group awards and also many personal first place awards.  Again I urge you to seize every opportunity to enjoy a production by our own Community Theatre.  They are a very talented group of young people.

LOUISIANA SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER:

COUNCIL ON AGING:

    We are still searching for a location to house our Central Council on Aging group.  If you are aware of a building that can be utilized, please contact Charlotte Fergerson at City Hall at 261-5988.

CENTRAL MARDI GRAS BALL:

    Last Saturday, February 5th, the Central Chamber of Commerce hosted our annual Central Mardi Gras Ball at St. Alphonsus.  This year’s event was a huge success!  Tickets were a sold out and we came close to doubling the attendance of last years ball.  I invite you to consider joining the festivities next year.  Our Chamber does a wonderful job on this event.
