Pride Family Loses Home in Fire

By  |

On July 10,2010 around 3:30 in the afternoon, Darren Soulier received a phone call from his neighbor saying that his house was on fire.  Darren and his family were in Orange Beach, Alabama at his son's World Series baseball tournament.  He received that call ten minutes before Dylan's team was to play their game.  Darren and his wife, Becky, decided to wait until after the game to share the news with their children: Haley (15), Heather (12), and Dylan (10).  After the game, Darren decided that it would be a good idea to share the news with their children in front of Dylan's teammates and parents.  The support that they received from everyone was overwhelming.  They returned to their "home" the next morning, only to find there was nothing left.  The home was completely destroyed with nothing to salvage but a few pictures that were left in their china cabinet, along with a few pieces of china.  Everything else was gone.  The fire department that responded said that the cause was due to a lightning strike that hit the livingroom.  The Souliers were thankful that they were not there to witness this tragedy, and they feel extremely blessed that no one was hurt.
