Safety Reminder from the Central Fire Department

City of Central just a reminder the use of fireworks is prohibited by ordinance in East Baton Rouge Parish.  Should you, however, find yourself in an area where their use is allowed, it is very important to use caution and read up on safety tips before you begin your celebration. 
  • Always read and follow label directions.
  • Have an adult present and never give fireworks to small children
  • Use fireworks outdoors only.
  • Never throw or point fireworks at other people
  • Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in your trashcan.
  • Alwys have water handy ( a garden hose or bucket)
  • Never experiment or make your own fireworks.
  • Never re-light a “dud” firework
  • Never carrry fireworks in your pocket.
  • Never shoot fireworks in a metal or glass containers
  • Stay away form illegal explosives!
