CP Baseball Wins Both in Doubleheader

The Central Private baseball team swept a doubleheader from the Silliman Institute baseball team on Wednesday.  The Rebels took the first game 6-4 with three runs coming in the second inning.  The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first inning when Colt Decote and Austin Gayle opened the game with back to back doubles the Gayle double scored Decote. Steven O'Bryant opened the third with a single and scored on an error by Silliman.  A double by Stephen Smith then plated Kerry Burns with a double to right field and Smith scored on another error by the Wildcats. 
Decote homered in the third to cut the deficit to 3-2 and Silliman tied the game in the fifth when Austin Amphion scored on an RBI single by Derrick Willis.  CPS then took the lead in the 5th when Seth Stevens opened the inning with a single and then scored on a base hit by O'Bryant.  Silliman then tied the score in the 6th when Ty Overland scored.  The Rebels finished the scoring in the sixth with two runs by Brad Miller and Ryan Young before O'Bryant shut the door on the Wildcats in the seventh to ensure the 6-4 victory for the Rebels.

Game 2
Central Private overcame an 8-4 deficit in the seventh of the night cap of the double header to sweep the series.  With two outs and the bases loaded, Kerry Burns blasted a fastball by Cody Donze into the scoreboard in left field for the walk-off grand slam.  After taking an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Hunter Fontleroy singled to score Steven O'Bryant, the Rebels had to battle from behind the rest of the night as Silliman scored four runs in the top of the second inning.  Base hits by Cody Donze and Brant David started the inning and they later scored after a couple of bases on balls to Ty Overland and Colt Decotel.  Caleb Blackard also scored to give the Wildcats a 4-1 lead.  They would add to the lead in the 3rd with two more runs by Donze and David to make the score 6-1.  The Rebel comeback began in the 3rd inninig with runs by Ryan Young and Steven O'Bryant and a run in the 4th by Brad Miller on a base hit by O'Bryant.  The Wildcats put two more runs on the board in the 5th after a lead off walk to Blackard and a single by Gayle who both scored.  That set the stage for the game ending heroics by Burns.  Ryan Young began the inning with a single and was followed on base after a single by Seth Stevens and a double by  Hunter Fontleroy.  Young scored on a ground out and Brennan Fucich loaded the bases drawing a walk after being behind 0-2 in the count,  Two pitches later Burns ended the game with the walk off grand slam.  The big hit made a winner out of reliever Ryan Young and Cody Donze suffered the loss.  The Rebels with a record of 14-6 return Thursday and Friday nights with a home game agains Parklane Academy and a trip to Bowling Green.
