CHS Football Advances In Playoffs

The Wildcats hosted a first round playoff game Friday night against New Iberia.  Scoring on its first two drives, Central jumped out to a 14-0 lead.  After a failed on side kick, New Iberia came to life and exchanged scores with Central for the remainder of the half.  Half time score: 28-14 Central.

The second half was all Central.  The Wildcat Defense shut down New Iberia and the offense continued to score on every posession.  By the end of the 3rd quarter Central led 56-14 and began giving playing time to next year’s prospective starters.  Late in the game New Iberia added a final touchdown, 56-21 Central.

Central will be at home next Friday against Ouachita, who beat West Jefferson in their first round game Friady.  With a win, the Wildcats would play the winner of  S. Lafourch vs Westgate the following week. 

In other 5A games there were four “upsets” wherein the lower ranked team won.  Westgate topped Mandeville, Comeaux beat Dutchtown, Thibodeaux eliminated St. Thomas Moore, and St. Augustine topped East St. John.
