CMS Football Improves to 3-0
The Central Middle Wildcat football team beat Livonia last Tuesday night 16-6, and remains undefeated on the season with a record of 3-0. CMS hosted the Wildcats from Livonia on a very rainy day in Wildcat Stadium. As the rain came down, Livonia received the opening kickoff and drove down the field to score first. The CMS Wildcat defense stopped the conversion try, which left Livonia leading 6-0. The CMS defense would not allow Livonia to score again the rest of the game. It was the Central Middle offense’s turn to come alive right before half-time. With 2 minutes to go before half, the CMS offense took over the ball at their own 30 yard line and used its power to run again and again to get the ball down to Livonia’s 12 yard line. Facing a 3rd down and short, with 32 seconds left on the clock, the CMS offense powered the ball up the middle to score its first touchdown of the night. The 2-point conversion was good, and the CMS Wildcats went into half-time leading 8-6. Cental Middle continued to keep the ball on the ground and scored again after powering its way to a touchdown and another successful 2-point conversion. Trailing 16-6, the Livonia offense turned on the speed and ran around the left corner and took the ball down to Central’s 20-yard line. Once again, the CMS defense proved to be too strong late in the game and stopped Livonia on 4th down and short deep in Central’s territory, not once but twice in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats from Central Middle will travel to West Feliciana next Tuesday, September 29. Game time will begin at 6:00pm
