Wildcat Baseball Opens 3-0 in District Play, Moves into 1st Place

    March 27th:  Central Baseball uses big third inning to beat Scotlandville, 14-0.  A nine-run explosion in the third inning hoisted the Wildcats to a 14-0 win in seven innings over Scotlandville at Scotlandville on Thursday.  James Schopp racked up three RBIs on three hits for Central. He singled in the third and fifth innings.  Shane Fontenot struck out nine, paving the way for the Wildcat win. The Central Wildcats Varsity's pitcher gave up just two hits in a complete game shutout effort.  Ivan Cain took the loss for Scotlandville. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked five and struck out none.  The Wildcats piled on five more runs in the top of the seventh. A bases loaded walk scored Cole Edgens for the inning's first run.     
    March 29th:  Central Baseball survived Denham Springs 6-3 thanks to Brady Jones' late-game heroics.  Brady Jones brought home the go-ahead run to give the Central Wildcats Varsity the lead in the sixth inning, as the Central Wildcats Varsity hung on to beat Denham Springs 6-3 on Saturday.  James Schopp and Dillon Dantin each reached base in the sixth.  They were  then sacrificed  to third on a bunt  by Chris Chambliss before being brought in by Jones’ two out double.  James Schopp, Cole Edgens, and Bubba Dunn each  had a hot bat for the Central Wildcats.  Each player went 2-4, Preston Fondren got the win for the Central Wildcats thanks to eight strikeouts. Preston allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks over seven innings.  With the Denham Springs victory, it propels the Wildcats into an early lead for the district title.  
    April 1st:  Central Baseball beats Zachary behind Caleb Harris’ 4 strikeouts and Chris Chambliss’ 3 run Homerun, 5-2.  A superb effort by Caleb Harris spurred the Wildcats to a 5-2 win over Zachary on Tuesday at Central.  Caleb was a workhorse on the bump while bagging the win for Central. Caleb allowed no earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out four over nine innings of work.  A walk-off three-run blast by Chris Chambliss gave the Wildcats the win.  Chris racked up three RBIs on one hit for Central. He homered in the ninth inning.  The Wildcats were also led on offense by a couple of two hit performances by James Schopp, Brennan Fontenot, Cole Edgens, and Preston Fondren.  The win propels the Wildcats into sole possession of first place in District 4-5A.  They will play the Walker wildcats this Saturday at 1:00 at Central.
