#5 CENTRAL BOYS BOWLING UPSET BY ST AMANT

In the latest Power Rankings poll, Central Boys Bowling (8-2) came into their match against St Amant (6-5) ranked 5th in the state.  After the match this past Monday (3-17-14), Central will probably fall a couple spots.  Central rolled their second lowest series of the season and an inspired St Amant team rolled their highest series of the season to pull off the huge upset.  St Amant would win by a close 15-12, even though Central won the Total Pin battle 3092-3067.  St Amant took control of the match from the beginning by winning Game 1 7-1 and 1049-997.  Jacob Garretson (Junior/Captain) kept Total Pins close by rolling a 237 and winning Central’s only point.  Central rallied in Game 2 and won 6-2 and 1095-986.  Parker Aucoin (Freshman) would lead the way with a 214 and followed by Garretson’s 203.  Unfortunately the momentum from Game 2 didn’t carry over and St Amant would win Game 3 6-2 and 1032-1000.  Sean Murphy (Senior) was high with a 192.  Garretson led the Wildcats with a 607 series, followed by Aucoin’s 577 and Murphy’s 557.  Robbie Villenurve led St Amant with a 594 (225).

In the end, the 15-12 loss snaps Central’s 8-game winning streak and leaves Central one final opportunity to get back on track before the State Playoffs next week.  On Wednesday (3-19-14) at All Star Lanes (3:15pm), Central takes on Albany (6-3) in a match between District Champions (Albany won the Hammond District).  Come support your Wildcats!

#3 CENTRAL GIRLS BOWLING ROLLS OVER ST AMANT

#3 Central Girls (9-1) made short work of a shorthanded St Amant (2-5) on Monday (3-17-14).  The Wildcats would cruise to a final score of 25-2 and 2537-1483 in Total Pins.  Central would win each game easily and by a wide margin.  The Wildcats would take Game 1 6-2 (814-560), Game 2 by a 8-0 (890-542) margin and Game 3 8-0 (833-381).  Brittnee Robinson (Freshman) led the Wildcats in Game 1 with a 187.  Games 2 and 3 were led by Haley Robinson (Junior/Co-Captain) with games of 190 and 215.  Overall, Young once again led the Wildcats with a 573 series and was followed by Robinson’s 483 (96 pins over average).

As District Champs, this young team has proven that they can compete and beat anyone in the Baton Rouge area, but on Wednesday (3-19-14) Central will face their biggest challenge this season.  The Wildcats take on #2 Albany (8-2) at All Star Lanes (3:15pm) in a match with the Regional State Playoffs #1 Seed being awarded to the winner.  Regardless, Central is going into the next week’s State Playoffs on a high note and hoped to continue their winning ways on Wednesday.
